With the first full moon of the Tibetan New Year in March 2023, CyberSangha® has launched a new online program of 24-Hour Full Moon Practices, related live teachings and science/spirituality dialogs with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche and invited guests, and small-group classes.

We invite you to join us! Every offering of the yearlong program is free and open to all. See the latest updates to the schedule, below.

This is the fourth consecutive year we have continued this tradition. This year, each month of the lunar calendar offers an opportunity to call up a specific uncomfortable emotion or other form of suffering that has been affecting our personal lives and the lives of others around the world. Supported by the teacher, fellow participants, and knowledgeable others, we will learn to embrace this pain with wisdom and compassion, heal and transform it, and open to clearer, more nourishing states of mind.

Whether you are a longtime meditation practitioner or a novice, you are welcome to attend any or all live broadcasts throughout the year. Except for the 24-Hour full moon practices, no advance registration is required. Simply view on the Facebook page of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche or via the “Learn more” links in the Yearlong Schedule, below.

Monthly Topics

Each full moon of the yearlong program marks the beginning of a full month of related practices, teachings, and dialogs. Month 1 features a March 3 teaching by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche on “Embracing Depression, Cultivating Joy,” followed on March 6 by a 24-Hour Full Moon practice on the same topic, and some days later by a related conversation among knowledgeable experts. Beginning April 4, Month 2 introduces us to a new topical focus and cycle of offerings.

As we deepen our familiarity with resting in a state of spacious awareness, we can acknowledge and embrace the obstacles and obscurations of our habitual patterns, allowing them to loosen and release in the openness of our true nature. In that openness, our positive qualities emerge, spontaneously arising for the benefit of ourselves and others.

Each month features:

  1. A teaching and guided meditation with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, to introduce the practices for the month. View live on the Facebook page of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, or via the “Learn more” links on this page.
  2. A 24-Hour Full Moon Practice, beginning at 10 a.m. New York time on the day of the full moon and continuing until 10 a.m. the following day. Each 24-hour online session begins with a guided meditation related to the monthly topic and is followed by alternating periods of mantra recitation and contemplative breathing practice, as well as further periods of guided meditation. Each 24-hour full moon practice takes place via Zoom, in an online meeting space; there is no cost to participate, but registration is required.
  3. A Science & Spirituality Dialog related to the topic of the month, with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche and other featured presenters hosted by Alejandro Chaoul-Reich. These dialogs will explore the topic of the month in more depth from the perspective of both direct spiritual experience and scientific research. What happens and why as we bring open awareness to our emotions in meditation? How does our relationship to suffering change through spiritual or energetic practices? Can science and medicine inform what and how we practice meditation? These live online conversations will explore such questions and more. Viewable live on the Facebook page of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, or via the “Learn more” links on this page.

Occasional small-group classes will be made available for those wishing to go deeper into the practices.
