Rooted in the essence of dzogchen, the Prayer of Secret Refuge guides us to connect deeply with our greatest source of protection: spacious awareness inseparable from our deepest nature. Join senior meditation teacher Marcy Vaughn for the second in a three-part series of live online broadcasts exploring this simple yet profound prayer, recently introduced by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche to his students. Across the series, Marcy will offer clear instruction and guided meditation to help participants connect directly with the vast sky of being, the clear light of awareness, and their union. Each session builds gently and experientially: beginning with recognizing inner openness and awareness, deepening into the release of limiting identities and the natural arising of compassion, and culminating in integrating the full prayer as a path from inner refuge to compassionate action in the world.

Prayer of Secret Refuge
I take refuge in the vast sky of being.
I take refuge in awareness, clear light.
I take refuge in the union of being and awareness.
From this union, may compassion spontaneously arise.
May all obstacles be cleared in service to others,
And in service to others, may I come home.

About the Instructor
Marcy Vaughn is a senior student of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. She has practiced Tibetan Buddhism for more than 50 years and graduated in the first class of the master’s program in contemplative psychotherapy at Naropa University. Currently a therapist in private practice in Santa Fe, N.M., U.S.A., Marcy teaches meditation classes and leads retreats that explore imagery and voice in the healing process. Marcy edited the books Tibetan Sound Healing, Awakening the Sacred Body, Awakening the Luminous Mind, and Spontaneous Creativity, all by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche. She helped design and teaches in The Compassion Project, a nine-month online course; and The 3 Doors Academy, a three-year residential and online training program. Both programs bring to life the benefits of contemplative practices in our daily lives.
